Wonder Woman was a big super hero hit last year for DC and Warner Bros, making over $412 million domestically and $820 million worldwide.
It’s no surprise that the film was greenlighted for a sequel. This time, director Patty Jenkins is bringing on Narcos and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal for a key role. This will mark the second time Pascal and Jenkins have worked together, having previously teamed up on the TV movie “Exposed.”
Jenkins is returning to both direct, write, and produce the blockbuster and Gal Gadot will be back to reprise the title role. Kristen Wiig will be joining the cast as well to play the villain role of Cheetah. No word yet on specific plot details, or what role Pascal will be playing.
Pascal made a name for himself in Hollywood with the role of Oberyn Martell in HBO’s Game of Thrones which led him to his star-making role in Netflix’s Narcos. Most recently, he appeared in Fox’s Kingsmen: The Golden Circle. He can be seen next starring opposite Denzel Washington in a sequel to The Equalizer set to release July 20.
Pascal is currently filming J.C. Chandor’s “Triple Frontier” alongside Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, and Garrett Hedlund in Hawaii for Netflix.
Wonder Woman 2 is set to be released November 1, 2019.
