Sheryl Underwood of “The Talk” hosted the 48th Annual Daytime Emmys Awards on June 25.

Alex Trebek, who died of pancreatic cancer seven months ago at 80 years old, was posthumously awarded Outstanding Game Show Host. This was his third consecutive win and sixth overall in the category. He was nominated a record 32 times in his 37-year tenure as the host of “Jeopardy!”

Trebek’s son, Matt, and daughter, Emily, stood behind the host’s podium on the quiz show’s set to accept his award.

“For as long as we can remember, he was always so proud to be a part of ‘Jeopardy!’, to work on a show that was based on knowledge, risk and the challenge — people had to think,” Trebek’s son said. “He loved every bit of it.” Emily added, “He was always excited to go to work, even during his battle with cancer. He was so fortunate that he was able to do what he loved, and we know that he not once took it for granted.”

“Jeopardy!” also won Outstanding Game Show, and executive producer Mike Richards dedicated the award to Trebek. “He was more than just a game show host, he was a legend, a towering figure,” Richards said in pre-taped remarks. “He believed that ‘Jeopardy!’ was more than just a game show. He loved it because it stood for facts, competition, and the celebration of intelligence.”

Larry King, who died in January at 87, won Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host for his eponymous show. His sons Chance and Cannon accepted on his behalf.

“This last season was a testament to his love for broadcasting,” Chance King said. “As much as he is gone, he is with us in our hearts forever.”

“General Hospital” was the biggest winner of the Daytime Emmys leading with 6 wins, including Outstanding Drama Series, and Maurice Bernard and Max Gail respectively winning Outstanding Lead and Supporting Actors in a Drama Series.

New-to-daytime Kelly Clarkson, and her eponymous talk show made quite a splash with 3 wins, including Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.
