Fox just announced that it will move forward with a revamped version of its wildly popular series, “Prison Break.” According to a report from Business Insider, the show’s creator Paul Scheuring and stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell have all signed on to return.
“Prison Break” kept audiences on the edge of their seats from 2005 to 2009. It followed two brothers, one who was being held in prison on a death sentence (Purcell) and another who was plotting his brother’s escape (Miller).
Fox is currently waiting on scripts and other materials from Scheuring, but Fox Television Group Co-chairman and Co-CEO Gary Newman says he’s confident that the ball will be rolling on the 10-episode season with little delay.
The revamped series will pick up where the old series left off, ignoring the fact that Miller’s character, Michael Scofield, was killed off in a straight-to-video motion picture previously released.
Fox believes that old fans and new viewers alike will be able to enjoy the new series. The episodes of the old version are currently up on Netflix, so if you were interested, now would be a good time to catch up.
Many of the show’s beloved characters will return for the new series. Fox has been digging up old series quite a bit recently, revamping “24” last year and prepping for an upcoming “X-Files” return as well.
