I commonly perform the procedure under local anesthesia ( outpatient) . Recovery is minimal, generally associated with mild post surgical swelling. How many procedures of Buccal Fat Removal have you done?
On my busiest day, I perform up to eight (8) buccal fat removals. I do operate 4 times a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and one Saturday a month. I have been performing buccal fat removals since 2014, therefore the number of buccal fat removal procedures performed is now in the thousands.
Tell us about chin liposuction.
Chin liposuction is, in my opinion, the second most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedure after buccal fat removal. It became very trendy due to the pandemic. With the shift to work from home and communicate heavily through video calls, people started to notice more of their under the chin area. This is especially common in people who work on laptops. On a laptop, the camera is always positioned below the chin, and in order to “look” at the face, it is positioned on an angle that looks straight to the under chin area, revealing those double chins that have been there for a while but that almost nobody noticed before. Like buccal fat removal, I perform chin liposuction under local anesthesia without any pain or discomfort. I commonly perform a variation of the procedure called Extended Chin Liposuction, on which in addition of reshaping the under chin area, I perform liposuction along the jawline to give a more defined jawline.When patients combine chin liposuction and buccal fat removal at the same time ( of course under local anesthesia) the patients achieve the most dramatic results.
As we move into the Fall, what are some of the trends?
As we move into the Fall, the most common trends nowadays are combinations of surgical procedures with injectables to look their best for the holidays. Combinations of buccal fat removal and cheek fillers, chin liposuction and chin and jaw line fillers as well as combo buccal fat removal and chin liposuction with facial beautification (for women) or facial masculinization (for men) are the most common trends for the end of this year, especially since Chrissy Tiegen did reveal she underwent buccal fat removal plastic surgery to achieve her chiseled look.
