In the three days since Kevin Spacey confessed to making sexual advances on Star Trek actor Anthony Rapp, who was then 14 years old, more men have come forward to say that he made aggressive passes at them, too. A London theater where Spacey once worked has received many of the men’s allegations via an anonymous tip line it set up earlier this week.
“We aim to foster a safe and supportive environment without prejudice, harassment or bullying of any sort, at any level,” reads a statement by London’s Old Vic theater, where Spacey served as artistic director from 2004 to 2015.
The theater said it received no complaints about Spacey during his tenure there, but numerous individuals have told the Guardian newspaper that Spacey behaved inappropriately toward many young male actors at the time and got away with it. Mexican actor Roberto Cavazos backed these claims Monday in a Facebook post in which he said that Spacey tried to seduce many younger men and that he came into Cavazos in a manner that was “on the borderline of being considered assault.” The Old Vic is now accepting anonymous complaints about spacey via an email tip line.
Another accusation came from film director Tony Montana, who told Radar Online on Tuesday that Spacey groped him in a bar in 2003. Spacey grabbed Montana’s genitals “hard” and tried to follow him into the bathroom, Montana said.
Also Tuesday, a former bartender named Daniel Beal said that Spacey exposed himself to him. And Wednesday, another man told the BBC anonymously that he spent the weekend at Spacey’s home when he was 17 years old and that Spacey invited himself into the young man’s bed.
