Share your background. What do you enjoy the most about the entertainment industry?
I have a background in charity, business, music, and film. I come from a family of musicians and church ministry. I was a showbiz kid performing on stage and working backstage. I started singing, rapping, dancing (ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and modern), writing, and choreographing at an incredibly young age at 3-years to 13- years-old. I went to a performing arts school and I have a foundation degree in broadcasting television and radio. I also have 15-years experience in healthcare administration. I was signed to a 4-girl gospel group singing and rapping in 2004, I’m on a couple of movies and TV shows, I interview on red carpets, and I have my own networking company.
What I like the most about the entertainment industry is the freedom to create and entertain someone in order to change their life. I love the different cultures and ideas that come from this industry. It is like a tool for therapy.
Tell us about “Message Music.”
I have dedicated myself to positive communication in the most negative situations which I want to bring to the world through my concept, “message music.” Message Music is a way for new artists to share their truth in a creative way no matter how it looks, as long as it is a message that can give others more knowledge so they can make better decisions for themselves.
Music has the power to create strong emotions. It can heal; it can build up; it can empower; it can give you direction; and it can give you focus. It can also do the complete opposite. My goal is to do all of the above stated by reaching the emotions of people; connect to those emotions and generate life. Then, watch it catch like wildfire. Why not listen to music that taps into the side of you that may seem foreign because you’ve been talked about or judged your entire life? Why not hear about why you should live and not die? Why not listen to a voice that can bring light to your situation and then realize that it can be contagious? This is what Shay-J Entertainment is all about. It’s connecting the bad with the good and causing the change to take place through a very, powerful tool….music.”
Why are artists coming to you today?
No one is investing in true talent and true gifts with passion and true connections and access. A lot of the world is changing and if you cannot get that door you need, you will waste so much money and time. Coming to me is just easier and cheaper to go through the back door because I always know someone that knows someone that can get you to the next level because of my networking department of my company and I love helping people and am passionate about it.
This year I just launched my company on June 11, 2021 and it’s a public-private company. We are public that we exist and our profession, but we are private about our clientele, partners, and supporters. This first year we will be allowing our artist to be familiar with a new company before we publicly announce anyone we represent. So stay tuned so you can catch who will be the first artist we launch out.
How are you opening doors for artists?
I am very altruistic. I have a passion to help others. I have access to opportunities, people, places, and I don’t want to and physically couldn’t walk through all the doors. So, I developed my company to help artist to train them to go into the door they want. Once we figure what door, I bring the artist with me and begin to introduce them to the right people in the door and make sure they are comfortable enough to be there by themselves. Then normally, I just don’t come back lol.
What does Shay-J Entertainment offer to new artists?
We offer rehabilitation services to our clients so they can actually hold on to their new life in a mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally healthy way. We also offer education and training services by people you normally would not get to train with. We are an exclusive company, we don’t just work with everyone, you will get the much needed attention you need to get you to your next level of life.
How do you know when you have a Star on your hands?
When they understand what it takes to get there and they listen and the talent matches on the stage and behind the stage. A Star understand all the roles, they just need help to get to new people for new doors.
Share your advice for artists today.
Believe in you first, it will be a lot easier for others to believe in you too. The humble confidence is what will keep you going. Do the work to get where you want and stay grounded no matter how long it takes, if it’s meant…. it always will be there for you when you are fully ready.
What are you looking forward to for the next 6-months?
I’m looking forward to the new people to help that didn’t think a new entertainment company can help them. I’m taping my reality TV show and I can’t wait to share my story with the parts of the world that need me to share it.
