The Duchess of Sussex helped welcome a surprise guest, hit the studio lot to prank vendors, and claimed she’ll be preparing Thanksgiving dinner herself on her pal Ellen DeGeneres’ talk program on Thursday.

“I enjoy cooking. Meghan stated of her second Thanksgiving in California with Prince Harry and their two children, “We’ll be home and just sort of rest and settle in.”

Meghan and DeGeneres, who met more than a decade ago at a pet store, talked about Halloween costumes (Archie was a dinosaur, and baby Lili was a skunk), as well as more important matters like Meghan’s work to lobby for federal paid family leave. She also stated that Harry has adjusted well to living in Montecito, where Ellen is one of their neighbors.

Meghan stated, “He loves it.” “All we want is to be happy.”

Meghan went all Ellen-style goofy while perusing the wares of three vendors on the studio lot, wearing an earpiece so Ellen could tell her what to say and do. Meghan wore cat ears, ate hot sauce on crackers like a chipmunk, and put a massive crystal to her face when a fictitious assistant urged the trio of salesmen to treat her the same as everyone else. They couldn’t stop themselves from laughing.

“Let Mommy have a bite.” Meghan informed a vendor with a booth full of hot sauces, “My boo likes hot sauce.” “Mommy is looking for some heat.”

Later on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Ellen and Meghan welcomed Brittany Starks, a Tennessee mother and hairdresser who helped others after going through a difficult period by braiding schoolchildren’s hair for free. She has since founded A Twist of Greatness, a nonprofit.

TisBest, the show’s charitable partner, contributed $20,000 to her cause. Meghan and Harry matched the money with a further $20,000 donation.

Meghan hugged Starks and said, “We were really touched by your tale.”
